M123 Bass Tech Tip
Playing a Walking Bass Line
If you want to play blues, early rock, or jazz music styles, you'd better spend some time mastering the walking bass line. One of the keys to a good walking line is making sure you hold every note down without letting your fingers up from the fingerboard. It's crucial that you hold every note as long as you can. Never mute or cut off any notes like you would for a rock/funk/pop-type bass line. And as with all types of bass playing, the notes of the chordal scales will help you get your walking up to speed. To add some spice, try adding in a second note every once in a while.
