Hal Leonard Jumpin' Jim's '60s Uke-In Tab Songbook

I had a Beatles dream last night. There I was, playing “Yellow Submarine” with George, John, Paul and Ringo. We were jammin’ out on the tarmac at JFK airport, about 40 yards from Concourse C. Hey, it’s my dream – don’t judge me! Since lead, rhythm, bass and drums were already taken, I got to break it down with my psychedelic Ukulele.

It was the great Magical Aviation Tour of 1969. We weren’t more popular than Jesus, but we definitely had the Starbucks in the main terminal topped. I was ripping my felt pick through “I wanna hold your hand” when a crowd started to gather. At first, I thought it was airport security, but music lovers everywhere seemed lured by our unique and mellow sound. Someone set up a merchandise stand under the winged protection of a commuter jet.

My Ukelele skills were perfectly matched for “Get Back” and even Ringo looked a little jealous of all the attention I was getting from the screaming girls. As we launched into “Hey Jude,” I realized that this dream was made possible by Hal Leonard Jumpin' Jim's '60s Uke-In Tab Songbook and Music123.com. Your dreams may be less groovy than mine, but you never know when you’ll find yourself in a ‘60s Uke-in and you better be prepared.

What's the most popular thing in the Middle East today? A lot of people in the street say it's democracy.

But there's no doubt that the most popular drum in the Middle East is the doumbek. With Meinl's Hand Engraved Aluminum Doumbek you'll be the envy of your drum circle as you drum for democracy!

Doumbeks can be played seated, standing, or even tucked under one arm. So you can play your doumbek even when you're marching in the street for freedom.

Doumbek584885.jpg

Hand-engraved with a traditional-style Middle-Eastern pattern, this doumbek--often called a goblet drum, a chalice drum, or darbuka--delivers a distinctively crisp sound well-adapted for accompanying belly dancers, or freedom marchers.

The Meinl Aluminum Doumbek is accompanied by a carrying bag, a spare head, and a tuning key. It'll give you years of outstandingly free sound from resonant lows to ringing highs of liberty.

First Note Train Whistle and Hat Set

It’s time the Rock n' Roll industry’s obsession with black leather come to an end. We know the rebel look is a tribute to the classic themes of Rock: women, parties, and excess. We'd like to propose an exploration of a more subtle theme in Rock n' Roll – trains.

From AC/DC's "Rock N' Roll Train" to Ozzy's "Crazy Train," the message is clear. Rock 'N Roll stars need a break from the "Casey Jones" lifestyle.

Bob Dylan knows it’s the "Train of Love"” that connects our inner child with our adult rockstar. From the train whistle to a shredded axe, the growth of a rockstar is like a cross country journey is a sleeper cab – exciting with a splendid view.

It’s time to shed the skull-studded leather boots, trashy buckles, and three-foot zippers and don a healthier image with the First Note Train Whistle and Hat Set.

Chauvet B-250 Bubble Machine

Congratulations! As a tax payer you are a proud partial owner of Government Motors. Here at Music123, the staff never dreamed of owning a car company, let alone one that carries $172 million in debt and has been booted from its former trading index.

Some people are a little upset about the $30 billion note the government signed to purchase 60% of Government Motors and we’ve even heard rumors of protests. Like Tax Day, we are afraid people will be taking to the harbors, lakes, rivers and bays with tea bags and the familiar cry of taxation without representation.

However, we’d like to suggest a safer, more hip alternative. Whether you're celebrating your recent acquisition of stock that you can’t legally trade or you're protesting the lack of cookies served at tea parties, consider holding your own bubble party with the Chauvet B-250 Bubble Machine instead.

There are several advantages to a bubble party. The portable Chauvet B-250 Bubble Machine will fit nicely in the back seat of your Fiat-Chrysler so you can take it almost anywhere. We’ve heard rumors that the new immigration law means you must have your passport to enter a land port from Canada and all in-vehicle bubble machines must be turned on low.

We are a new generation and bubbles are the essence of our revolution, right? If you answered yes, the next question is “how much, exactly, is $30 billion?” We don’t know either, but we think Government Motors could pull out of this crisis by installing Chauvet B-250 Bubble Machines in every new vehicle.

Thud Rumble Butter Rug Slipmats

"Why don't you come over tonight after the show and we'll play on my Butter Rug Slipmat?" he said with a sly smirk. "Get a little Thud Rumble on."

"Wha?!" I responded, full of alarm. What kind of girl did he think I was? Did hanging out at the DJ booth make me a cheap take-out?

"Yeah," he continued. "It's the slickest thing you've ever seen. It really helps me get my groove on."

"Have you ever tried a Butter Rug before?" he asked. My mouth must have dropped open in astonishment, but he just kept going. "It's amazing what it does to your control! Everything feels so fast!"

I staggered back as he started bragging about his "advanced handling" skills. I had to get out of there, but not before I regained my dignity.

"I just got a new pair of Thud Rumble Butter Rugs," he said. "You could use one by yourself if you'd like."

As I reached up to slap his vulgar mouth, he held up an illustrated box in demonstration. My fingertips brushed against the slipmat's texture and suddenly everything was clear.

The Super Earl Banjo by Gibson

In the middle of a global financial crisis, investors everywhere are trying to predict the next market to post high gains. They are searching for something that won’t be affected by limited natural resources, decreased consumer confidence or a volatile credit market.

Uncertain market anticipation has antsy investors turning to non-traditional investments. Valuable art, antiques, rare coins, precious metals and jewels have garnered much attention from market analysts as traditional commodities and market staples have slowed or declined.

Some of you may be tempted to put your money into "safe" markets like green energy or utilities based on anticipated demand. We understand your anxiety around an unstable market environment. With increasing commitment to offer our customers a long-term investment, Music123 would like to present the Gibson Super Earl Banjo.

Autographed by the most popular banjo player ever, Earl Scruggs, The Super Earl banjo is sure to rapidly gain value in the elite banjo collection circles. The hand-drawn portrait of Earl by world-renowned artist Randall Martin makes this collector’s item the musical equivalent of the Mona Lisa.

The Super Earl Banjo Gibson can be yours for the low price of $49,955 or as low as $4,995.50 per month with The Card, Music123’s easy financing option. This minimal investment will provide financial security and stability to you and your family for years to come*.

*The Music123 staff are not financial advisors. All investments come with inherent risk. Please consult your financial advisor before purchasing a banjo for the sole purpose of financing your retirement.

Giardinelli I Love My Flute Cleaning Mitt

I was visiting San Diego last week and stumbled into a jazz club to hear a local celebrity whipping out an amazing tribute to Jethro Tull on his flute. After the performance, I followed him into the men’s room to ask him a few questions. I’ve heard this is the best way to make strangers feel comfortable in a night club.

I complimented him on his performance and asked what his secret was. After signing a contract on a cocktail napkin that did not preclude me from divulging his secret in a weekly satirical product review on the best musical instrument retailer’s website, I was initiated into the Secret Society of Jazz Flute Players.

The ritual was short and involved water free hand sanitizer, a pair of needle nose pliers and a sample of cologne from a wall-mounted vending machine. I can’t really describe the initiation, but I will say that I’ll be wearing socks in public, even with sandals, for the rest of my life.

Now to the secret: The Giardinelli I Love My Flute Cleaning Mitt. First, you baste the flute in key oil. Second, you gently lay the entire flute directly on the highest oven rack. Bake on 350 degrees for 22 minutes. Let cool on rack for 5 minutes. Remove from oven with Giardinelli I Love My Flute Cleaning Mitt and begin polishing immediately.

The heat from the oven will cause the key oil to form a thin lacquer, creating a darker, more-focused sound, perfect for jazz performance. The Giardinelli I Love My Flute Cleaning Mitt will release a magical power that gives perfect embouchure to anyone who puts his mouth to the headjoint.

Note that this process must be performed in a gas oven. But that makes sense, right? Using an electric oven to bake your flute would just be silly.

Remo Assorted Fruit Shakers

“Why what a marvelous centerpiece that is!” my Aunt Susan cooed from above her handmade bamboo tablecloth. The beautifully carved bowl was filled with apples, plums, bananas, pears, avocados, oranges and lemons.

“Yes, I brought it just for you,” I replied. It was hard to hide the smirk, but I managed. Boring, stuffy dinners at Aunt Susan’s house were about to come to an end.

Her four meticulously dressed children folded their immaculate hands in their laps on their handmade bamboo cloth napkins. They looked like identical hand-painted versions of children sailors.

I have plans for you kids, I thought. We’re going to turn this stuffy house upside down tonight

During dinner, I slowly began emptying the fruit from the centerpiece into my lap and passed them to the children. Their eyes widened in excitement and terror.

Either Aunt Susan thought it would be bad manners to accuse me of stealing the centerpiece fruit that I brought as a gift, or she didn’t notice.

As dinner was coming to a close, I excused myself to the restroom. I snagged the ol’ school boom box I stashed earlier and casually strolled into the formal dining room and placed the boom box on the table.

“What is this mischief?” my aunt questioned accusingly.

I didn’t reply. I simply exchanged knowing glances with each blue and white striped child and pressed play. Suddenly the sound of a steel drum band started blaring and we began our accompaniment.

A lot of mayhem occurred that night. Eventually my aunt gave up her shocked scowl and joined in. We danced around the leftover sweet potato casserole and rice pilaf, showing them which food group is the boss of fun.

The lesson: If you’ve got a stuffy dinner party to crash or just some kids who need to shake it up a bit, Remo Fruit Shakers are a fun way to change the scene. But be careful, the avocado thinks it’s a vegetable and can turn the entire box into a rebellious veggie gang during delivery. Better spring for expedited shipping.

And finally, orange you glad I didn’t make a banana joke here?
